Soft TPU or add-on protective case

TPU is a soft plastic that absorbs impacts and slips on over the device: that's how the Switch Lite and Retroid Pocket 6 cases offered here work. The protective case for the Game Boy Advance SP takes a different approach: it covers the closed console and comes with a screen film, so you get two kinds of protection in a single order.

Transparent doesn't mean invisible over time

A clear case lets the original colour show through, but it does mark: TPU becomes tinted from UV exposure and contact with hands, and the softer it is, the faster this happens. The glitter finish of the Switch Lite case hides these marks better than perfectly clear TPU. Cleaning the case and the console each time you refit it avoids micro-scratches caused by trapped dust.

What it doesn't do

• Not always a screen film: only the Game Boy Advance SP case is listed with its screen protector.
• No drop protection: TPU cushions a knock on a corner, but it doesn't replace a hard carrying case.
• No shared format: a Retroid Pocket 6 case won't fit any other handheld console.
