This BitFunx replacement shell gives the console a new housing, in translucent plastic that shows the electronics, or in opaque black. Eight colours to choose from, for a restoration or a customised collector's console.
What it does
- Replaces a damaged housing: yellowed, scratched or with broken screw posts.
- Eight colours: clear, translucent black, translucent red, blue, purple, yellow and orange, or opaque black.
- No-solder installation: you transfer the console's components from one shell to the other.
What it doesn't do
- Only the housing is guaranteed to be included: plan to reuse the screws, buttons, springs and internal parts from your console.
- It does not fix a drive or power supply fault: it is a cosmetic part.
- The translucent colours show the inside, dust and cables included.
Compatibility
Home Dreamcast, standard model. It does not apply to the brand's other consoles or to machines derived from the Dreamcast (arcade cabinets, development kits).
Skill level required
Intermediate, no soldering. You need to open the Dreamcast (Phillips screwdriver), remove the drive, power supply, fan, motherboard and controller port board, then reinstall everything in the new shell, disconnecting and reconnecting the ribbon cables without forcing them. Photograph each step before disassembling.

The job: moving a Dreamcast into a new housing
You open the console, photograph each step, remove the drive, power supply, fan and motherboard, then reinstall them one by one in the new shell, reconnecting the ribbon cables without forcing them. The console keeps its original electronics and gets a housing free of scratches and yellowing, in the chosen colour.
