On this budget, it all comes down to the form factor: a 2.8 to 4-inch panel, 4:3 aspect ratio for 8-bit and 16-bit consoles, 16:9 for more recent games, and a horizontal, vertical or clamshell body. That's what you'll be holding every day.

8-bit and 16-bit systems as well as the Game Boy Advance run smoothly across the whole selection. The PlayStation 1 and Nintendo 64 also work, with variations depending on the game and the emulator used. Beyond that, you need to move up a range: firmware can't make up for a lack of power.
