Arcade cabinets & bartops

A cabinet or a bartop is built in blocks, and those blocks are what is sold here: USB encoder and harness for the control panel, 24 and 30 mm snap-in buttons, a PAM8403 2 x 3 W amplifier module and potentiometers for sound, 12 V power supply and a mirror acrylic sheet for the trim.

What you need to gather to build a bartop yourself

Four blocks to handle separately

  • Control: USB encoder, 5-pin harness and snap-in buttons in 24 or 30 mm for the panel.
  • Sound: PAM8403 class-D amplifier module rated 2 x 3 W, powered over 5 V USB, and WH148 potentiometers with a 15 mm shaft sold in packs of 10 with their nuts.
  • Power: screw-type 12 V DC connectors, supplied as 5 male and female pairs.
  • Trim: black mirror acrylic sheet, plus a 300 mm flexible shaft for driving screws into the tight corners of the cabinet.

A 5 V amp will not fill a full-height cabinet

The PAM8403 delivers 2 x 3 W on a 5 V supply: that is sized for a bartop sitting on a table, a metre from the player, not for filling a room. Do not mix up the project's two voltages either: the 12 V DC connectors are for the screen or the lighting, the amp stays on 5 V. Feeding a module 12 V by mistake destroys it instantly.

What it doesn't do

  • No assembled cabinet or bartop is sold here, and no flat-pack cabinet kit either.
  • No screen, no Raspberry Pi board and no games: the display and software side is up to you.
  • Cutting the control panel, drilling and mounting are not covered by these parts.

Questions fréquentes

Do you sell complete cabinets or bartops?
No. This collection brings together the parts for a DIY project: control, sound, power and trim. The cabinet itself, the screen and the computing side are not offered. It is a selection aimed at people building or repairing their cabinet, not at those looking for a finished product.
Is the PAM8403 module enough for a bartop's sound?
For a tabletop bartop, yes: 2 x 3 W in class D is more than enough for listening at a metre, with an efficiency that avoids any heat sink. It runs on 5 V, typically from the same USB port as the rest. For a full-height cabinet in a large room, you will need to aim higher.
What is a 300 mm flexible shaft for?
It fits between the drill and the 6.35 mm bit to reach a screw you cannot get at in a straight line. On a bartop, the fixings at the back of the cabinet and the internal brackets are typically in that position. The 300 mm length lets you work at arm's length, without removing a panel already in place.
