eXtremeRate full shell for Steam Deck LCD: change the whole housing in one go
A scratched, yellowed or simply too plain Steam Deck LCD gets a complete makeover with this kit: front shell, back shell and full set of buttons in the same colour. eXtremeRate is a benchmark for replacement shells for handheld consoles, and this model fits without soldering.
What it does
- Complete housing: the front shell and back shell replace the two original half-shells.
- Matching buttons: the button set comes in the same colour as the shell.
- Nine finishes: seven translucent (including a colourless clear one), one glow-in-the-dark and one opaque white.
- Tools and screws included: screwdrivers, opening tools, screws and springs are in the box.
What it doesn't do
- This is not a console. No electronic parts are included: screen, trackpads, joysticks, battery, fan and motherboard are transferred from your Steam Deck.
- It is not suitable for the Steam Deck OLED, whose shell is different.
- It improves neither cooling, nor battery life, nor performance.
- On the translucent colours, the internal ribbon cables, adhesives and labels remain visible.
Compatibility
Steam Deck LCD (2022 model) only. Not compatible with the Steam Deck OLED or with other handheld gaming PCs. Opening the console may end the manufacturer's commercial warranty.
Skill level required
Advanced level, no soldering. The Steam Deck must be fully disassembled: open the back shell, disconnect the battery before anything else, then transfer the screen, motherboard, modules and buttons piece by piece into the new shell. Plan a long, quiet session, photographing each step and sorting the screws.
