What the cloth surface changes for the glide
The surface is a micro-textured cloth. On this type of weave, the mouse starts with no marked resistance and stops with no harsh catch: it is a middle-ground surface, between the so-called “speed” pads with a very smooth weave and the so-called “control” pads with a thick, braking weave. PopMyPad publishes neither the weight nor the density of the weave, so we cannot put a figure on the friction. What can be checked: the surface is identical across the 900 × 400 mm, so the glide does not change when the mouse moves from one edge to the other, and the weave takes optical sensors as well as laser sensors. The rest depends on your own feel and on the state of your mouse skates.
The base, the edges and the lifespan
The underside is textured natural rubber, across the whole surface and not only around the edge. That is what holds the pad in place when you push the mouse across the desk. On a clean desktop it stays put; on a dusty or greasy glass top, grip drops off. That is normal rubber behavior, not a manufacturing defect. All four sides are closed with an overlock stitch that encases the edge of the cloth: the usual protection against fraying, right where the forearm rubs most. PopMyPad states neither the width of this stitching nor the number of stitches per centimeter, and we are not going to invent a figure in its place.
What it does not do
It does not arrive flat: it ships rolled up, and the corners lift for a few hours to a few days before they settle. It is not machine washable: PopMyPad states hand washing in lukewarm water with a mild soap, drying flat, and advises against the tumble dryer. It will not improve your aim, a pad provides an even surface and nothing more, and it does not make up for worn mouse skates. The gold of the armor is a printed color, not a metallic ink: the surface stays matte and uniform to the touch. Finally, this golden knight is an illustration from the PopMyPad catalog: it is not an officially licensed product and we claim no license.

What size and what thickness will I receive?
Four options when ordering: 900 × 400 mm in 2 mm, 900 × 400 mm in 3 mm, 1,000 × 500 mm in 3 mm and 1,000 × 550 mm in 3 mm. The price shown first is for the 2 mm version: the 3 mm quoted in the title is an option you select.
Does the pad arrive flat?
No, it ships rolled up. Unrolled and left flat, it settles in a few hours to a few days depending on the room temperature. Putting books on the corners overnight speeds things up.
Can I machine wash it?
PopMyPad states hand washing: lukewarm water, mild soap, light rubbing, rinsing, then drying flat in the open air. The brand advises against the tumble dryer. We have no data on how the print holds up after several machine cycles, so we do not recommend it.
Will the edges fray?
All four sides are stitched: the overlock encases the edge of the cloth, the usual protection against fraying. PopMyPad publishes neither the width of the stitching, nor the number of stitches, nor the weight of the cloth: we cannot put a figure on its durability.
Does it stay put on a glass desk?
