What it actually protects
It sits between the chair's castors and the floor. On parquet, laminate or lino, it is the fabric that takes the daily back-and-forth instead of the varnish. It also traps dust and crumbs around the desk and absorbs part of the rolling noise, which counts in a flat. Pick the diameter according to the chair's range of movement: 80 to 100 cm for a fixed workstation, 120 to 140 cm to roll back without leaving the rug. At 40 and 60 cm, this is an accent rug, not a chair zone.
Setup and care
It lays flat, with no glue or adhesive, and comes up again in seconds. If the parcel arrives folded, leave the rug flat for several days: the creases fade under its own weight, faster in a heated room. Skip the iron, polyester does not take it well. Day to day, a vacuum is enough. For a stain, a soft cloth and lukewarm water, no abrasive products. The gentle-cycle machine wash stated by the supplier remains practical up to 80 cm, much less so beyond that.
What it does not do
It is no substitute for a rigid polycarbonate protection sheet: under hard castors, the fabric ends up showing marks where you pass most. It does not cushion a fall, neither that of a chair tipping over nor that of a heavy object. Its underside is not documented by the supplier, so nothing guarantees it will stay put on its own on smooth tiles: plan for a non-slip rug underlay, it is not included. And neither the thickness nor the weight per square metre are given to us: we do not publish them.
