Description complète
SS12D00 slide switch: the little selector for your mods
On a modded console, there is almost always a two-position selector missing: toggling a backlight, changing palette, switching off an LED, switching a signal. The SS12D00 is the standard format for the job — a miniature 1P2T 3-pin switch, to be soldered, supplied here in a pack of 20 with a choice of handle length.
What it does
- Two crisp positions: 1P2T (SPDT) configuration, one input switched to two outputs, with no centre position.
- Five handle lengths: from 2 to 6 mm, so the slider sits flush with or sticks out of the shell depending on your cut-out.
- Pack of 20: enough to equip several machines, botch a solder joint and keep spares.
- Low-voltage use: component rated for less than 50 V AC or 75 V DC, suited to signals and the small circuits of a mod.
What it doesn't do
- It can't be fitted without soldering: three through-hole pins to solder onto a board or to wires.
- It doesn't switch power: no mains, no motors, no high current.
- It isn't an exact replacement for a console's original switch: manufacturer parts have their own footprint and pin pitch.
- No cutting, shell drilling or wiring diagram is included: the supplier listing provides no instructions.
- The exact dimensions (pin spacing, overall size, travel) are not guaranteed by the supplier: measure your mounting spot before ordering.
Compatibility
This is a generic component, not a catalogued spare part: it suits any build or mod board designed for a 1P2T slide switch with 3 through-hole pins. It is typically used as an added selector (backlight, palette, LED, signal cut-off) on a retro handheld console or an electronics project. No specific console compatibility is claimed here, and no revision is certified: it's up to you to check the footprint available on your board.
Skill level required
Intermediate level. You need to open the console, solder three thin pins (fine-tip iron, solder, flux), and usually file or drill an opening in the shell for the handle. You will need a screwdriver suited to your machine, a soldering iron, side cutters and something to adjust the shell.
In the box
- 20 SS12D00 slide switches, 3-pin, 1P2T, with the handle length of your choice.
- No accessories: no wire, no instructions, no diagram.

A selector where there wasn't one
Most handheld console mods end with the same question: how do you switch from one mode to another once the shell is closed? A backlight you want to be able to turn off, a colour palette you want to alternate, an LED that's too bright. This little slide switch is the most common answer: three pins, two positions, a few millimetres of handle sticking out of the shell.
The SS12D00, the workshop standard
The SS12D00 is the generic part number that modding tutorials have been citing for years: a 1P2T with three through-hole pins, unbranded, made by dozens of factories. Its appeal isn't performance but availability and the choice of handle length, from 2 to 6 mm depending on the thickness of your shell. The pack of 20 saves you reordering after a botched solder joint.
What we tell you before you buy
This is a component, not a catalogued spare part: it isn't an exact replacement for a console's original switch, and the supplier guarantees neither the exact pin spacing nor the overall dimensions. You will need to solder, and often file or drill the shell. If you're looking for a part that fits without tools, this isn't it. Measure your mounting spot before ordering.

Frequently Asked Questions
🔧 Do I need to solder to fit this switch?
Yes. The three pins are through-hole: they are soldered onto a board or directly to wires. A fine-tip iron, solder and a little flux are all you need.
🎮 Which consoles can I use it on?
It's a generic component, with no guaranteed console compatibility. It suits any build or mod board designed for a 1P2T slide switch with 3 pins. Check the footprint available on your board.
📏 Which handle length should I choose?
It determines what sticks out of the shell: 2 mm for a slider that is almost flush, 6 mm for easy access through a thick shell. Measure the thickness to get through before ordering.
⚡ What voltage can it handle?
The supplier rates it for low voltage: less than 50 V AC or 75 V DC. It is made for signals and small circuits, not for mains, a motor or high current.
📦 What's in the box?
