PS2 Slim internal HDMI kit: a digital output instead of the composite cable
Connected by composite to a modern TV, a PS2 Slim gives a blurry, smeary picture. This internal HDMI kit is soldered onto the motherboard and takes the digital signal to output it in 480p or 1080p. It is aimed at experienced modders, able to micro-solder, who know the revision of their motherboard.
What it does
- Digital HDMI output: the signal is taken directly from the motherboard, without going through analogue conversion.
- 480p or 1080p: a choice of two output resolutions, depending on the TV.
- On-screen menu: picture settings and three video modes (soft, standard and vivid).
What it doesn't do
- It does not make games more detailed: it carries and enlarges the original picture, without adding resolution.
- It only suits the listed motherboards: a wrong reference makes the kit unusable, so check yours before ordering.
- It is not suitable for the full-size PS2, nor for SCPH-9000x PS2 Slim consoles.
- It does not repair a tired drive or a failing power supply.
- Installation requires micro-soldering: this is not a beginner's kit.
Compatibility
PS2 Slim with motherboard GH-032 or GH-035 (SCPH-700xx), GH-036, GH-037 or GH-040 (SCPH-750xx), GH-041, GH-051 or GH-052 (SCPH-770xx), GH-061 or GH-062 (SCPH-7900x). The revision is engraved on the motherboard: choose the matching variant. Not compatible with the full-size PS2 or SCPH-9000x PS2 Slim consoles.
Skill level required
Expert level. Complete disassembly of the console down to the motherboard, micro-soldering of the ribbon cable onto very fine points, fixing the HDMI board and making an opening for the HDMI port in the shell. Have a fine-tip soldering station, flux, a magnifier or microscope, and a precision cutting tool. If in doubt, have a workshop do the installation.

The job: soldering in a digital output
You open the PS2 Slim down to the motherboard, solder the ribbon cable onto the designated points, fix the HDMI board and make an opening for the port. It is micro-soldering work: once closed again, the console outputs a sharp picture to a modern TV, without a composite cable.
The part: one variant per motherboard
Each PS2 Slim revision has its own layout: the kit therefore exists for GH-032 to GH-062 boards. It takes the digital signal and outputs it in 480p or 1080p, with an on-screen menu and three video modes. Everything happens inside the console: no external box.
