Sound, before anything else
The 3.5 mm headphone jack is not a simple pass-through to the console. An ESS digital-to-analog converter sits inside the controller and drives the headset directly. A dedicated button next to the jack mutes the mic without going through a menu. It's the most audible difference from a standard Xbox controller.
The trigger locks are mechanical
Two switches on the back shorten the trigger travel. In the short position, the trigger behaves like a button: actuation is immediate, which helps in shooters. In the long position, the full analog travel comes back, for driving. The adjustment is physical: it works on Xbox too, with no software. Dead zones, on the other hand, go through Armoury Crate, so through a Windows PC.
What it isn't
This is not the Raikiri Pro. No OLED screen, no wireless connection, two rear buttons instead of four. It is wired and stays that way: no Bluetooth, no 2.4 GHz dongle. It has no gyroscope, so no motion aiming, and it does not work on PlayStation, on Switch or on macOS. And Armoury Crate only exists on Windows.

Why this controller is in our catalogue
We check every controller before listing it. Many never make it in.
Every controller is checked before it enters the catalogue: the platforms it really works on, the technology of its sticks, what it does not do. Many models never make it in, because they do not live up to what they announce. What this one can do, and where it stops, is detailed further down this page.

Frequently Asked Questions
What's the difference with the ROG Raikiri Pro?
The Raikiri Pro adds an OLED screen, 2.4 GHz wireless and Bluetooth connectivity and four rear buttons. The Raikiri you're looking at here is wired and has two rear buttons. The ESS DAC and the trigger locks are on both.
Does it work on PS5, Switch or Mac?
No. ASUS only states Windows 10, Windows 11, Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One. No PlayStation, Nintendo Switch or macOS compatibility.
Does it have Hall effect sticks?
No. ASUS does not claim Hall effect on this model: the sticks are of conventional design. Sensitivity, dead zones and response curves are set in Armoury Crate, but that does not change the sensor technology.
Does the trigger adjustment work on console?
Yes. The travel locks are two physical switches on the back of the controller: they work on Xbox without software. Dead zones and button mapping, on the other hand, go through Armoury Crate, so through a Windows PC.
Is the cable detachable?
Yes. The controller has a USB-C port and the supplied 3 m USB-C to USB-A cable unplugs. The 300 g stated by ASUS are measured including the cable.
Is there a gyroscope?
No. No motion sensor is built in. Motion aiming, common on Switch and on Steam, is not available.
