The only Darmoshark on this page stated at 8,000 Hz
The N5 ships with a 2.4 GHz dongle stated at 8,000 Hz, i.e. one sensor position every 0.125 milliseconds. For comparison, the M3 and the N3 top out at 1,000 Hz and the M2 at 4,000 Hz. This polling rate is handled by a Nordic nRF52840 chip. It only makes sense if your screen goes beyond 144 Hz and your processor can take the load: on an office setup, it will change nothing.
An unapologetically right-handed shape, switches rated for 60 million clicks
Darmoshark describes the N5 as an ergonomic, asymmetrical right-handed shell: 123 mm long, 68 mm at its widest, 40 mm high, for 57 g. It uses dust-proof TTC Gold switches rated for 60 million clicks. That is less than the 80 million stated for the Kailh GM8.0 switches on the M3 and the N3. The feet are PTFE and the supplied cable is a flexible paracord.
Who it is not for
To left-handers: the shell is asymmetrical right-handed, with no mirrored variant. To those playing on a 60 Hz screen: 8,000 Hz will bring them nothing noticeable, the M3 does the same job for less. To those who want the highest switch lifespan: the TTC Gold are rated for 60 million clicks against 80 million on the M3. To Mac users who want macros: the driver is Windows software. And to those who leave the lighting on permanently: the stated battery life drops from 125 h to 83 h.

Why this mouse is in our catalogue
We check every mouse before listing it. Many never make it in.
Every mouse is checked before it enters the catalogue: the sensor actually fitted, the weight on the scales, the shape and the grips it supports, what it does not do. Many models never make it in, because they do not live up to what they announce. What this one can do, and where it stops, is detailed further down this page.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is the 8,000 Hz dongle really included?
Darmoshark states the N5 with an 8K dongle. Some resellers, however, list the same model at 1,000 Hz. Check for the 8K marking on the dongle you receive; if in doubt, contact us before opening the packaging.
What is the difference with the Darmoshark N3?
Same PAW3395 sensor, but the N5 is lighter (57 g against 61 g), has a battery twice as large (500 mAh against 300) and reaches 8,000 Hz where the N3 tops out at 1,000 Hz. The N3, on the other hand, has switches rated for 80 million clicks against 60 million.
How long does the battery last?
Darmoshark states up to 125 hours with the lighting off and around 83 hours with the lighting on, with a 500 mAh battery. These figures correspond to the 1,000 Hz mode; at 8,000 Hz, battery life drops noticeably.
Do you need a high refresh rate screen to benefit from 8,000 Hz?
In practice, yes. The gain between 1,000 and 8,000 Hz is measured in fractions of a millisecond and stays theoretical on a 60 Hz screen. 8,000 Hz also uses more processor resources.
Can a left-hander use it?
No. The shell is asymmetrical right-handed, with both side buttons on the left and a groove for the right thumb. For a neutral shape, look at the M2 or the M3, which are symmetrical, even if their buttons stay on the left.
Does it work on Mac?
Yes, over Bluetooth, over 2.4 GHz and over USB-C. The Darmoshark driver, needed for macros and polling rate settings, is however Windows software.
