A high-end sensor in a mid-range mouse
The N3 uses the PixArt PAW3395, the sensor found in mice selling for two to three times the price. It goes up to 26,000 DPI, tracks up to 650 IPS and handles 50 G of acceleration. In practice, those three figures mean one thing: the sensor never loses tracking, however fast your movement. This is where the N3 matches models that cost far more. The rest of the mouse, on the other hand, sticks to entry-level choices.
1,000 Hz and 300 mAh: the two numbers to check before buying
The N3 is capped at 1,000 Hz, meaning one sensor position sent every millisecond. That is the norm on almost every mouse, but the N3 Pro versions go up to 8,000 Hz. Its battery is 300 mAh for a stated 40 h or so, where the M3 and the N5 carry 500 mAh. The switches are Kailh GM8.0, stated at 80 million clicks by the manufacturer. The feet are PTFE.
Who it isn't for
Left-handers: the shell is asymmetrical and both side buttons sit on the left. Players aiming for 4,000 or 8,000 Hz: you need the N3 Pro, not this one. Anyone who dislikes recharging: 300 mAh means one charge a week under heavy use. Mac users who want to remap the buttons: the Darmoshark driver is Windows software. And anyone looking for a console mouse: no Xbox, PlayStation or Switch compatibility is stated.

Why this mouse is in our catalogue
We check every mouse before listing it. Many never make it in.
Every mouse is checked before it enters the catalogue: the sensor actually fitted, the weight on the scales, the shape and the grips it supports, what it does not do. Many models never make it in, because they do not live up to what they announce. What this one can do, and where it stops, is detailed further down this page.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference with the Darmoshark N3 Pro?
The N3 is capped at 1,000 Hz and carries a 300 mAh battery. The N3 Pro goes up to 8,000 Hz, moves to 500 mAh and weighs about 3 g more. The sensor is the same PAW3395 on both.
Can you play over Bluetooth?
Technically yes, but Bluetooth is slower than the 2.4 GHz dongle. Bluetooth is for laptop and office use; for gaming, use the 2.4 GHz dongle or the USB-C cable.
How long does the battery last?
Darmoshark states around 40 hours with the 300 mAh battery. That is the shortest battery life in the range: the M3 and the N5 carry 500 mAh.
Does it work on Mac?
The mouse works on macOS over Bluetooth, over 2.4 GHz and over USB-C. The Darmoshark driver used to remap the buttons and set the DPI steps, however, is Windows software.
Is it suitable for large hands?
It measures 123.5 mm long and 66 mm wide. That is a medium size. Beyond 19 cm of hand length, palm grip becomes tight; the M3, at 129.55 mm, is a better fit.
Do you need to install software to use it?
No. The DPI steps are changed with the button underneath the mouse and the three connection modes are selected physically. The driver is only for advanced customization: macros, custom steps, lift-off distance.
