Replacement screens here bring together LCD and IPS panels for the Game Boy, GBA SP, DS Lite, PSP and Lynx II, from the 2.5-inch greyscale module to the 3.5-inch 640x480 kit with HDMI output. They are joined by protective lenses and the 55 mm suction cup used to open consoles without marking the plastic.

Replacement screen: identifying the right panel, console by console

One panel per console, no universal format

The selection ranges from the 2.5-inch greyscale panel for the Game Boy DMG to the 3.5-inch 640x480 Lynx II kit, via the Game Boy Color's 2.6-inch, the GBA's 2.9-inch and the GBA SP's 3-inch panels. On the DS Lite, there is also a top panel and a bottom panel, which are not interchangeable.

A bare panel and a complete kit don't involve the same work

The LCD screen for the PSP 1000, 2000, 3000 and Go is sold as a bare panel: it restores the console's original display without changing how it looks. The Lynx II kit, on the other hand, requires soldering and adds a 720p HDMI output. In between, the laminated PSP 3000 module plugs into the existing connector, with no soldering iron.

What it doesn't do

  • No diagnosis: a missing picture sometimes comes from the ribbon cable or the power supply, not the panel.
  • No protection included: the front lens is ordered separately, in glass or plastic depending on the console model.
  • No opening by hand: the 55 mm suction cup and a suitable screwdriver are still needed to separate the shells.

Questions fréquentes

How can you tell whether the fault is in the screen or the console?
A cracked panel, one with ink stains or one crossed by fixed lines needs replacing in almost every case. A completely black picture while the sound still works, however, may come from the backlight, the connector or the ribbon cable. Reconnect the ribbon cable properly before ordering a new panel.
Are the DS Lite's top and bottom panels identical?
No, they are two separate parts. The top and bottom screens have neither the same connection nor the same integration, as the bottom screen is combined with the touch layer. Check which one is affected before ordering: one part can't replace the other.
Should you add a protective lens after replacing a screen?
It's recommended on the Game Boy, Game Boy Color, GBA and GBA SP: the front lens takes the scratches instead of the panel and is much cheaper to replace. The choice between glass and plastic comes down to scratch resistance for glass and impact resistance for plastic.
