Laminated IPS screen for DS Lite: a sharp screen from every angle

The original screen of the DS Lite ages badly: colours that shift, a narrow viewing angle, dust trapped under the glass, a scratch or a dead pixel. This kit replaces one of the two screens with an IPS panel whose surface is laminated, meaning factory-bonded to its glass, with no air gap between the two.

What it does

• IPS panel: the picture stays readable even when you tilt the console, where the original screen loses its colours.
• Lamination: no space between the panel and the glass, so no more dust trapped inside.
• Screen of your choice: each variant corresponds either to the top screen or to the bottom screen, in the colour shown on its image.

What it doesn't do

• One variant contains a single screen. To replace both, order a top screen and a bottom screen.
• The resolution remains that of the console (256 × 192 per screen): the picture is more readable, not more detailed.
• It does not repair a damaged hinge ribbon cable or a damaged motherboard connector.
• It is not suitable for the original DS, the DSi or the 3DS models.

Compatibility

Nintendo DS Lite only (model USG-001), all regions. Not covered: original DS (NTR-001), DSi and DSi XL, 3DS, 2DS and their XL versions. Check the model number under the console before ordering.

Skill level required

Advanced. You need to fully disassemble the console (tri-wing and Phillips screwdrivers), disconnect the ribbon cables and, for the top screen, route the ribbon cable through the hinge without folding it.
