What exactly is Divoom?
Divoom makes objects whose screen you program pixel by pixel from a free app on iOS and Android. You can draw your own designs, load animations from the community, or display the time, the weather or a follower counter. They are neither video screens nor consoles: they are retro-geek decor pieces that change their look to suit your mood.
One point to be clear on before you choose: no Divoom ships with licensed game artwork. The characters you sometimes see in other sellers' photos are not part of the product. What you display is a matter of your own private use.

You want to display pixel art: the Pixoo-64 II
It is the sharpest screen in the Pixoo range: 64 pixels per side, or 4,096 dots you can set one by one. At this resolution a character is recognisable, an animated scene takes shape and a short text stays readable from a distance. Its real advantage is dual-band Wi-Fi: a YouTube or Twitch follower counter, the weather or a stock price stay up to date continuously, with no phone nearby.
What it doesn't do: it replaces neither a monitor nor a photo frame. 4,096 pixels is a lot for pixel art and very little for a photo. It runs plugged in.
You want a dashboard: the Times Gate
Five small 128×128-pixel colour screens, lined up in a chassis styled like a spaceship door, with an RGB glow around the edges. Each screen shows its own content: the time in two cities, the weather, a stock price, your follower counter, a little animation. It is the object that turns a desk into a cockpit. Available in silver and yellow.
What it doesn't do: these are thumbnails. You read a number or an icon on them, not an email. Live data requires an internet connection.
You want to display your photos: the Times Frame
Its screen is transparent: the photo seems to float in front of the frame, with a real sense of depth. It stores your photos and videos on 64 GB and receives them remotely, including ones sent by your loved ones.
