What it actually protects
It sits between the chair's castors and the floor. On parquet, laminate or lino, the fabric takes the daily back-and-forth instead of the finish. It also traps dust and crumbs around the desk and absorbs part of the rolling noise, which matters in a flat. Pick the diameter according to the chair's range of movement: 80 to 100 cm for a fixed workstation, 120 to 140 cm to roll back without leaving the mat. At 40 and 60 cm, this is an accent rug, not a chair zone.
Laying it down and care
It lies flat, with no glue or adhesive, and comes up in a few seconds. If the parcel arrives folded, leave the rug flat for several days: the creases fade under its own weight, faster in a heated room. Avoid the iron, polyester doesn't take it well. Day to day, a vacuum is enough. For a stain, a soft cloth and lukewarm water, no abrasive products. The gentle-cycle machine wash stated by the supplier stays practical up to 80 cm, much less beyond that.
What it doesn't do
It doesn't replace a rigid polycarbonate chair mat: under hard castors, the fabric eventually marks where you roll most. It won't cushion a fall, neither a chair tipping over nor a heavy object. Its underside is not documented by the supplier, so nothing guarantees it will stay put on smooth tiles on its own: plan on a non-slip rug underlay, it isn't included. And neither the thickness nor the fabric weight has been given to us: we don't publish them.

Ce qu’il ne fait pas
- Ni picots, ni sous-couche caoutchouc : sur carrelage lisse ou parquet vitrifié, il peut glisser. Prévoir un sous-tapis antidérapant, il n'est pas fourni.
- Ce n'est pas une plaque de protection rigide. Sous des roulettes dures de fauteuil de bureau, le textile marque aux endroits de passage.
- Il n'amortit pas les chocs. Un fauteuil qui bascule ou un objet lourd qui tombe atteint le sol malgré le tapis.
- Si le tapis arrive plié, les marques de pliage mettent plusieurs jours à s'estomper.
- En 120 et 140 cm, le lavage en machine domestique reste théorique : le volume d'un tambour standard est rarement suffisant.

Does the retro controller pattern cover the whole rug, and does it survive washing?
The retro controller print covers the entire disc, whatever the diameter. The supplier states washing by hand or in the machine on a gentle cycle, without specifying a temperature or how the colors hold up over time. A domestic machine stays realistic up to 80 cm; beyond that, a standard drum rarely has the volume.
Which diameter should you choose under an office chair?
The benchmark is the chair's range of movement. 80 to 100 cm for a fixed workstation, 120 to 140 cm to roll back without leaving the rug. At 40 and 60 cm, this is an accent rug, not a chair zone.
Will the chair's castors damage it?
This is a fabric, not a rigid polycarbonate sheet. Under hard castors, the fibers compress where you roll and the mark eventually stays visible. Soft castors, designed for carpet, limit the marking.
Will it stay put on tiles or sealed parquet?
