Full description
Anbernic RG406H: full speed up to PSP, and a deliberate 4:3 screen
The RG406H is a horizontal Android handheld with a 4-inch 960 × 720 IPS touchscreen and two Hall effect joysticks. Its Unisoc T820 chip, backed by 8 GB of RAM, handles everything up to PSP and Nintendo DS without breaking a sweat. Beyond that, it enters "depends on the game" territory, and its 4:3 format comes at a cost for 16:9 games.
What it does
- Full-speed emulation up to PSP: 8- and 16-bit, arcade, PlayStation 1, Nintendo 64, Dreamcast, Nintendo DS and PSP run without any notable compromise.
- Hall effect joysticks: no mechanical contact, so no drift over time, and a much wider range of motion than on entry-level handhelds. The triggers also use Hall effect sensors.
- A real Android machine: Android 13, 8 GB LPDDR4X, 128 GB of UFS 2.2 storage expandable via microSD, Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.0. Play Store, streaming and Android games included.
- USB-C video output: the console connects to a TV or monitor in 1080p via DisplayPort over USB-C.
- Fully equipped: multi-touch screen, six-axis gyroscope, vibration, RGB lighting, 3.5 mm headphone jack and a 5000 mAh battery (up to 7 hours according to the manufacturer).
What it doesn't do
- GameCube and PlayStation 2: partial, never guaranteed. Lighter titles run, demanding ones don't — F-Zero GX remains unplayable, and several big PlayStation 2 games need per-game tuning. Don't buy this console for those two libraries.
- Wii: possible, but only with tweaking. It is not plug and play.
- Wii U, Switch and PlayStation 3: out of reach.
- Sega Saturn: 2D works, 3D doesn't. This system is consistently overestimated on this generation of chips.
- Nintendo 3DS: partial, no results promised.
- The screen is 4:3. Excellent for pre-2000 games, but anything made for 16:9 — PSP first and foremost — displays with wide black bars on a 4-inch screen. That is an ergonomic limit, not a power limit.
- Nintendo DS and 3DS have no comfortable dual-screen display on this panel.
- Supplied without games, in compliance with the law.
Skill level required
No soldering, no disassembly. The console boots into Android 13. It does not come preconfigured for emulation: you need to install the emulators from their APK files, organize your game folders and set up a front-end. The most demanding systems — GameCube, PlayStation 2 — also require per-game settings. Allow an evening to get set up, more if you are aiming for the top of the chart.

Why buy here rather than on a marketplace
It is a fair question. Here is the answer, straight.
Every listing is checked before publication: chip, screen, systems actually emulated, condition on delivery. Many models that come out never make it into the catalogue.
A question, a firmware problem, a return: you write, a human replies within 1 business day. In French.
The 2-year legal warranty of conformity is handled by us — not by a form on the other side of the world. And 14 days to change your mind, with no need to justify yourself.
We do not claim to be the cheapest. We claim that you will know exactly what you are buying before you pay.
