3DS analog stick: a new circle pad, in the right model
A circle pad that drifts, catches or no longer returns to centre makes a 3DS a pain to use. This part replaces it with a new analog stick, supplied with opening tools. There are two models: one for the original 3DS range (3DS, 3DS XL, 2DS), one for the New range (New 3DS, New 3DS XL, New 2DS XL). Choose the version that matches your console.
What it does
- Replaces the circle pad: the worn stick comes out, the new one takes its place.
- Two distinct models: original 3DS range or New range, to be chosen in the version selector.
- Pack of 1 or 2: a second stick for another console, or as a spare.
- Tools included: Phillips screwdriver, tri-wing screwdriver, opening spudger and tweezers.
What it does not do
- The two models are not interchangeable: a 3DS stick will not fit a New 3DS, and vice versa.
- It does not replace the small C-stick above the A, B, X and Y buttons on New models.
- It does not repair a torn ribbon cable or a damaged connector on the motherboard.
- It is not suitable for the DS, DS Lite, DSi or DSi XL, which have no circle pad.
Compatibility
“3DS / 3DS XL / 2DS” version: 3DS, 3DS XL and 2DS. “New 3DS / New 3DS XL / New 2DS XL” version: New 3DS, New 3DS XL and New 2DS XL. To know which one to take: if your console has a small C-stick above the A, B, X and Y buttons, and ZL and ZR triggers, it is a New model. Otherwise, it is a model from the original range. The DS, DS Lite, DSi and DSi XL are not covered.
Skill level
You need to open the console, remove the old stick and connect the new one to its ribbon cable. No soldering. The tools you need are included: Phillips screwdriver, tri-wing screwdriver, spudger and tweezers. Once the console is reassembled, recalibrate the circle pad from the console settings. The job: getting a precise circle pad back
A drifting circle pad makes your character move on its own or makes menus imprecise. You open the console, remove the old stick, connect the new one to its ribbon cable and close it up. A recalibration in the console settings finishes the job.
