Pot de pâte à flux de soudure M35 ouvert, montrant la pâte crème destinée à la micro-soudure
Description complète

M35 flux paste: solder that flows instead of balling up

On a console board that's twenty or thirty years old, solder often refuses to take: the pad is oxidised, the tip slides, the joint stays dull and domed. A dab of flux applied before the iron chemically cleans the area during heating, and the solder flows on its own. It's the basic consumable for micro-soldering: ribbon cables, connectors, capacitors, IPS screens.

What it does

  • Cleans during heating: dissolves the oxide layer on pads and pins, which lets the solder wet the surface instead of rolling into a ball.
  • Fine component work: rework of SMD, QFP, FFC/FPC connectors and BGA balls, with an iron or a hot air station.
  • Three pack sizes: a single unit for a one-off job, a pack of 2 if you repair regularly, a pack of 5 for a workshop or a group purchase.
  • Declared RoHS compliant by the supplier, with no substance of very high concern stated.

What it doesn't do

  • This is not solder. Flux prepares the surface but adds no metal: you also need solder wire or solder paste.
  • This is not glue. It doesn't hold anything mechanically and won't fix a torn trace, a lifted pad or a dead component.
  • The supplier provides no volume, no datasheet and no activation temperature. The variant indicates a number of units, not a guaranteed weight — we won't make one up.
  • The nature of the residue left after heating isn't documented. Treat it as a flux that needs cleaning and go over the area with isopropyl alcohol.
  • No console, iron or tool is supplied with this consumable.

Compatibility

No model restrictions: it's a workshop consumable, not a spare part. It can be used on any printed circuit board — home console and handheld console motherboards, screen ribbon cables, battery connectors, USB-C ports, controller and arcade stick PCBs. However, it isn't intended for plumbing or jewellery soldering, nor for aluminium or stainless steel, which require dedicated fluxes.

Skill level required

Intermediate: this product assumes you already solder. You need a fine-tip iron with adjustable temperature (or a hot air station for BGA), solder, desoldering braid and isopropyl alcohol with a brush for the final clean. Apply a very small amount — any excess spreads under neighbouring components and makes cleaning harder. Work in a ventilated area: flux fumes should not be inhaled.

In the box

  • 1, 2 or 5 units of M35 flux paste, depending on the variant chosen.

When the solder refuses to take

A pad greyed by thirty years of humidity, a desoldered FFC ribbon cable, a capacitor that won't stick: on a retro board, the problem rarely comes from the iron. The solder doesn't spread because the surface is oxidised. A dab of flux applied before heating changes this behaviour completely: the solder flows, grips and gives a clean joint on the first try, without having to persist or overheat the trace.

One consumable, three formats

Flux paste is used up very slowly: a few milligrams are enough for one joint, and a single unit easily covers fitting a complete IPS screen. The single unit suits a one-off job, the pack of 2 anyone who repairs several machines a year, the pack of 5 a workshop or a group purchase among tinkerers. It's the same product in all three cases; only the quantity changes.

What we'd rather tell you before you buy

The supplier publishes no datasheet, no volume and no information on the residue left after heating. We don't fill in these gaps: the variant states a number of units, not a weight. Plan on cleaning with isopropyl alcohol as a matter of principle, and remember that flux doesn't make the joint — it prepares the surface, and the solder is up to you. Fumes should not be inhaled; work in a ventilated area.

Frequently Asked Questions

🔧 What exactly does flux paste do?

It chemically removes oxidation from pads and pins during heating. The molten solder can then wet the surface and form a clean fillet, instead of sitting as a ball on dull metal.

🎮 Which boards can I use it on?

On any printed circuit board: home console or handheld console motherboard, screen ribbon cable, battery connector, USB-C port, controller or arcade stick PCB. It isn't a part tied to a specific model.

🌡️ Can it be used with an iron and with hot air?

Yes, that's the usual use of a paste flux: iron rework on fine components, and hot air station work for QFPs and BGA balls. The supplier doesn't publish a precise temperature range.

🧪 Do I need to clean up after the job?

Yes, as a precaution. The supplier doesn't document the type of residue: treat it as a flux that needs cleaning and go over the area with isopropyl alcohol and a soft brush once the board has cooled.

📦 What's in the box?

1, 2 or 5 units of M35 flux paste depending on the variant chosen. No solder, iron or cleaning tool is included. The supplier doesn't state the exact volume of each unit.

🧰 What else do I need?

A fine-tip iron with adjustable temperature or a hot air station, solder wire or solder paste, desoldering braid, and isopropyl alcohol for cleaning. Flux doesn't replace any of these.

🚚 What are the delivery times?

Delivery in 10 to 18 days · ships within 3 to 5 days. You receive a tracking number as soon as the parcel leaves.

🛡️ Which guarantee applies?

2-year legal guarantee of conformity and 14-day returns. Our French-speaking customer service replies within 1 business day.

Why buy here rather than on a marketplace

It is a fair question. Here is the answer, straight.

We verify, they list

Every listing is checked before publication: real compatibility, material, dimensions, box contents. Many models never make it into the catalogue.
