Brimstone: warm tones instead of neon
Brimstone leads from the map: he lays his smokes, marks a zone, calls the orbital strike and lets his team move in. He is the veteran of the roster, and his palette says exactly that — burnt orange, khaki, brown and beige, earthy tones with nothing neon about them. Which is why this set does not belong where you would expect: it clashes with a black-and-blue gaming setup, but settles in beautifully on a wooden desk, a beige or off-white keyboard, with amber lighting or none at all. It is a set for the team player, the one who organises rather than entries — and for a desk that has no wish to blink.
Light tones: dirt first, sizes second
With beige and khaki, the recurring question is fingerprints. Two things work in your favour: PBT is harder and rougher than the original ABS, so it shines up more slowly and keeps its matte surface; and the dye-sublimated pattern sits inside the material, which means you can rub without wearing it away. For the rest, the manufacturer states 14 keys in five sizes — 1U (1.8 × 1.8 cm), Caps Lock 1.75U (3.15 cm), Backspace 2U (3.6 cm), Enter 2.25U (4.05 cm), spacebar 6.25U (11.25 cm) — in ANSI widths. An add-on set, not a matching keyboard
A warm, restrained palette suggests a fully coordinated keyboard: that is not what you get. Fourteen keycaps land on a keyboard that has more than a hundred, and the original keys left around them will match neither in shade nor in texture — with beige and khaki the gap shows more than it would on black, so be warned.
