DreamPSU USB-C: a Dreamcast powered by a USB-C charger
The Dreamcast's original power supply is an internal board connected to the mains, which heats up and ages along with the console. The DreamPSU by Auroxin takes its place: the console is then powered by a USB-C Power Delivery charger at 12 V / 3 A, with no mains cord.
What it does
- Replaces the original power board: it fits inside the Dreamcast, in place of the old one.
- USB-C Power Delivery input: the console plugs into a USB-C charger that supplies 12 V at 3 A.
- No more mains cord: a standard USB-C charger is enough, provided it offers 12 V.
- Japanese or American console without a transformer: with a 100-240 V charger, the mains voltage no longer matters.
What it does not do
- The USB-C charger and USB-C cable are not included.
- A charger that does not offer 12 V over Power Delivery will not work: many phone chargers stop at 5 V and 9 V.
- It does not fix a fault located outside the power supply (motherboard, disc drive).
- It is not an external power brick: the console has to be opened to install it.

The job: replacing the original power supply
In the Dreamcast, the power supply is an internal board connected to the mains, which heats up and ages along with the console. You open the console, remove the original board and install the DreamPSU in its place. Once closed again, the Dreamcast plugs into a USB-C charger, just like a laptop.
