Description complète

900M-T tips: five replacement shapes for your soldering iron

On a retro console, a single tip isn't enough: a capacitor pad, an IPS screen ribbon cable and a power connector call for neither the same fineness nor the same thermal mass. This pack of five 900M-T tips gives you a choice of shape, and replaces the ones that oxidation has eventually eaten away.

What it does

  • 900M-T format: the most widespread standard in the workshop, used by irons and stations with interchangeable tips of the 936/937 type and their many clones.
  • Five tips per pack: enough to keep a fine point for precision work and a tip with more thermal mass for large joints, without buying them one by one.
  • Designed for lead-free solder: the supplier states that the tips are intended for lead-free soldering, which works at a higher temperature than leaded solder.
  • Consumable: a tip wears, pits and oxidises. Having a spare set saves you from stopping a job in the middle of a recap.

What it doesn't do

  • Does not fit stations with heating cartridges: no T12, C245 or C210. These systems integrate the heating element into the tip, and the 900M-T format does not fit them.
  • Nor does it fit portable irons with proprietary cartridges or hot air station nozzles.
  • Does not turn a low-end iron into a stable station: a tip compensates neither for an imprecise thermostat nor for insufficient power.
  • The exact composition of each assortment (Set A, Set B, Set C) is not confirmed by the supplier: the shapes delivered are those shown in the images of the chosen variant.
  • The supplier states a copper core; the exact nature of the plating is not documented. An unplated tip erodes quickly with lead-free solder.

Compatibility

Compatible with soldering irons and soldering stations that accept tips of the 900M / 900M-T standard: this is the format of 907-type handles and of 936 and 937 stations, as well as most entry-level stations sold with interchangeable tips. Before ordering, check that your iron's tip comes out by loosening a ring nut, and that its shank is about 4 mm in diameter. Not covered: T12 cartridge stations, C245 and C210 systems, USB-C irons with proprietary tips and hot air stations.

Skill level required

No disassembly and no soldering for the installation itself: with the iron cold, loosen the retaining nut, remove the old tip, insert the new one and tighten again. Allow one minute. Re-tin the new tip as soon as it first heats up, with a little fresh solder: this film protects it from oxidation.

The tip decides the joint

On a retro console board, not everything is soldered with the same tip. An IPS screen ribbon cable needs a fine tip that touches only one trace at a time; a ground plane or a power terminal, on the other hand, needs mass, otherwise the heat is absorbed by the copper and the joint never takes. Having several shapes to hand changes the way you work far more than a more expensive iron.

A standard, not a brand

900M-T is not a proprietary part number but a format that has become the norm for workshop tools: 907 handles and 936 and 937 stations, as well as the vast majority of entry-level stations, accept it. That is what makes these tips easy to find again years later, and it is also why you need to check one thing before ordering: that your tip comes out by loosening a ring nut.

What we don't promise you

A tip is a consumable, not a part for life: it pits, oxidises and eventually refuses to take solder. The supplier states a copper core without documenting the plating, and does not detail the composition of the three assortments — we prefer to say so rather than invent a list of shapes. To make it last, re-tin the tip before putting the iron down and clean it dry rather than with a soaking wet sponge.

Frequently Asked Questions

🔩 Will these tips fit my soldering iron?

They fit any iron or station that accepts the 900M-T standard: 907-type handles, 936 and 937 stations and most entry-level models with interchangeable tips, whose shank is about 4 mm.

🚫 Is it compatible with a T12 or JBC station?

No. T12, C245 and C210 cartridges integrate the heating element into the tip: their format has nothing to do with 900M-T and the two cannot be swapped.

📦 What's in the box?

Five tips in 900M-T format. The supplier offers three assortments — Set A, Set B and Set C — whose exact composition is not documented: refer to the images of the chosen variant.

🔧 How do you change a tip?

With the iron unplugged and cold, loosen the retaining nut, remove the old tip, insert the new one and tighten again. One minute, no special tools.

🌡️ Are they made for lead-free soldering?

The supplier states they are for lead-free solder, which works at a higher temperature. In practice, the higher the working temperature, the faster the tip wears.

♻️ How long does a tip last?

It depends on the temperature and maintenance. A tip that is re-tinned after each session and cleaned dry lasts much longer than a tip left heating with no solder on it.

🚚 What are the delivery times?

Delivery in 10 to 18 days, ships within 3 to 5 days.

🛡️ What guarantee applies?

2-year legal guarantee of conformity. 14-day returns. French customer service, reply within 1 business day.
