Wired SNES controller — image 1
Description complète

Wired SNES controller: a second controller for the home console

A SNES without a second controller means two-player mode stays locked. This compatible wired controller plugs into the controller port of the SNES and Super Famicom, in the format of the original controller: D-pad, four face buttons, L and R shoulder buttons, Start and Select. Matte-finish ABS shell. It comes in two looks: purple buttons like the American controller, or multicoloured buttons like the European and Japanese controller.

What it does

  • Direct connection: into the controller port of the SNES or Super Famicom, no adapter needed.
  • Classic layout: D-pad, A, B, X and Y buttons, L and R shoulder buttons, Start and Select.
  • Two looks to choose from: purple and lavender buttons (American model) or red, yellow, green and blue buttons (European and Super Famicom model). Only the appearance changes, the connection is the same.
  • Wired: nothing to charge, nothing to pair, no batteries.
  • Matte ABS shell: in the format of the original controller.

What it doesn't do

  • This is not the console maker's controller: it is an unlicensed, third-party compatible controller. The feel of the buttons may differ.
  • It does not plug into a NES: the controller connector is different.
  • It does not connect over USB to a computer, nor to mini reissue consoles: it needs the controller port of the SNES or Super Famicom.
  • It is not wireless.

Compatibility

SNES (European and American versions) and Super Famicom, through the console's controller port, whichever look you choose. Not supported: NES, mini reissue consoles, computer.

Skill level

None: plug the controller into the console's controller port. Beginner level.

The motion: unlocking two-player mode again

A SNES found at a flea market often comes with just one controller, or one whose D-pad no longer responds. This one plugs straight into the controller port, with no adapter or setup: switch on and the two-player game is back on, on SNES as well as Super Famicom.

The hardware: a controller in the classic format

It follows the format of the original controller: D-pad, four face buttons, L and R shoulder buttons, Start and Select, in a matte-finish ABS shell. It is an unlicensed, third-party compatible controller, and it is wired: no batteries, no pairing.

Our support: the right connector for the right console

The connector is the SNES and Super Famicom one, not the NES one or a USB port. Before ordering, check your console's port: that is what decides, not the region. A question about compatibility? Our customer service replies within one business day.

Frequently Asked Questions

🎮 Which consoles does this controller plug into?

The SNES (European and American versions) and the Super Famicom, through the console's controller port.

🆚 What is the difference between the two models?

Only the appearance. The American model has purple and lavender buttons, like the SNES controller sold in the United States. The European model has red, yellow, green and blue buttons, like the European controller and the Super Famicom. Both connect the same way, on SNES as well as Super Famicom.

🔌 Does it work on a NES or over USB?

No. The connector is the SNES and Super Famicom one: it fits neither a NES controller port nor a USB port.

🏷️ Is this the console maker's controller?

No. It is a third-party compatible controller, in the format of the original controller. The feel of the buttons may differ.

🔋 Does it need batteries?

No. The controller is wired: it is powered by the console.

📦 What is in the box?

Why buy here rather than on a marketplace

It is a fair question. Here is the answer, straight.

We verify, they list

Every listing is checked before publication: platforms actually supported, stick technology, connectivity, what the controller does not do. Many models never make it into the catalogue.
