Description complète
Composite AV cable: plugging a Multi Out console back into a TV with RCA sockets
The original cable has gone missing, or its plugs no longer hold. This cable uses the AV Multi Out connector shared by the Super Famicom / Super Nintendo, the Nintendo 64 and the GameCube, and sends it out to three RCA plugs: yellow for the picture, red and white for stereo sound. It's the simplest and most universal connection for playing again on a screen with composite inputs.
What it does
- One cable for three consoles: the Multi Out connector is identical on the Super Famicom / Super Nintendo, the Nintendo 64 and the GameCube, so the cable moves from one to the other.
- Separate picture and sound: composite video on the yellow plug, stereo audio on the red and white plugs, just like an original cable.
- Plug it straight in: no settings, no power supply, nothing to take apart on the console.
What it doesn't do
- It doesn't improve the picture: composite is the least defined analogue signal. For a sharper result, you need S-Video, RGB SCART or a dedicated converter.
- It doesn't convert anything to HDMI and doesn't upscale the picture: a TV with no yellow/red/white RCA input won't be able to use it without a converter.
- It changes neither the frequency (50 or 60 Hz) nor the region of the console.
- It doesn't fit the NES / Famicom, handheld consoles, or machines without a Multi Out connector.
- Exact length not stated by the manufacturer.
Compatibility
Consoles fitted with the AV Multi Out connector: Super Famicom / Super Nintendo, Nintendo 64 and GameCube. On the TV side, you need three composite RCA inputs (yellow, red, white). Not covered: the NES / Famicom, handheld consoles, and any equipment using another video output. Compatible third-party cable, this isn't an original manufacturer part.
Skill level required
None. No soldering, no disassembly, no tools: plug the connector into the console, the three plugs into the TV, then select the right AV source. If your screen only has HDMI, you'll also need an AV to HDMI converter.
In the box
- 1 composite AV cable, Multi Out connector to 3 RCA plugs.

The cable that's always missing from the box
A console found in the attic rarely turns up complete. The machine is there, the controller too, but the video cable disappeared long ago. Without it there's nothing to be done: the screen stays black. This AV cable restores the most basic link between the console and the TV, the one everybody played through in the 1990s.
One connector, three generations
The AV Multi Out connector stayed the same from the Super Famicom to the GameCube, by way of the Nintendo 64. A single cable therefore follows three consoles and moves from one to the other depending on what you're plugging in that evening. On the TV side, three universal RCA plugs: yellow for the picture, red and white for stereo sound. No settings, no power supply.
What it won't do, said before you buy
Composite is the least defined analogue signal: this cable carries the original picture, it doesn't improve it. It converts nothing to HDMI and doesn't increase the resolution. If your screen no longer has RCA inputs, you'll have to add a converter. It's a compatible third-party part, not an original manufacturer cable, and its exact length isn't stated.

Frequently Asked Questions
🎮 Which consoles does this cable work with?
With consoles fitted with the AV Multi Out connector: Super Famicom / Super Nintendo, Nintendo 64 and GameCube. The NES / Famicom and handheld consoles are not covered.
📺 My TV has no RCA sockets, what can I do?
You'll then need an AV to HDMI converter, sold separately. This cable ends in three RCA plugs (yellow, red, white): without a composite input or a converter, the screen won't receive anything.
🖼️ Will the picture be better than with my original cable?
No. It's the same composite signal as an original AV cable. To gain sharpness, you have to change the type of signal: S-Video, RGB SCART or a converter with picture processing.
🔊 Is the sound in stereo?
Yes, two audio plugs are provided, red and white. The output stays analogue stereo: it also depends on what the console and the game send out.
🧰 Do I have to solder or take the console apart?
No. The cable plugs into the existing AV output; no tools and no opening of the case are needed.
📦 What's in the box?
One composite AV cable, a Multi Out connector on one side, three RCA plugs on the other. Nothing else is supplied.
