SanDisk Ultra 256GB microSDXC card, front view
Description complète

256GB: all the capacity a retro console needs

A handheld emulation console keeps its system, games and saves on a single card. This SanDisk Ultra 256GB microSDXC comfortably covers 8- and 16-bit systems, the PS1 and a good share of the PSP, without going up to the large capacities some Linux consoles refuse. SanDisk rates it at up to 100MB/s read, Class 10, with a 7-year limited warranty.

What it does

  • Stores: 256GB for the system, the games you own and your saves.
  • Reads fast: up to 100MB/s read speed claimed, enough to load a game with no noticeable wait on a retro console.
  • Fits everywhere: works in any device that accepts microSDXC, handheld consoles, Android smartphones, tablets.

What it doesn't do

  • It has no A2 rating: on a smartphone that launches apps from the card, an Extreme will feel more responsive.
  • It is designed for reading: copying a large game library takes longer than with an Extreme.
  • Supplied without an SD adapter: you need a microSD reader to fill it from a computer.
  • It doesn't store games on Nintendo Switch 2, which only accepts microSD Express.
  • Supplied without games, in accordance with the law.

Compatibility

Any console or device that reads microSDXC: Anbernic, Miyoo, TrimUI, Retroid, Android consoles, Steam Deck, original Switch, smartphones and tablets. Format it in the console before copying your files.

Frequently Asked Questions

💡 Is 256GB enough for my retro console?

For an 8-, 16- or 32-bit console, yes, easily. For the PS2 or GameCube, where each game weighs several gigabytes, 512GB or more becomes useful.

⚡ How does it differ from the SanDisk Extreme?

The Extreme claims higher read and write speeds, plus the A2 rating that speeds up Android apps. On a Linux-based retro console, the difference shows mainly when copying files, not in game.

🎮 Does it work on Nintendo Switch 2?

Not for games. The Switch 2 only accepts microSD Express cards to store and launch games. A UHS-I microSD like this one can only be used there to import screenshots and videos. On the original Switch, Switch OLED and Switch Lite, it works.

💾 Do I need to format the card before use?

Yes, in the device that will use it. For a Linux-based retro console, use the format required by the firmware (FAT32 or exFAT). Leave about 10% free space and never remove the card while it is writing.

📦 Does the card contain any games?

No. It is supplied blank, without games, in accordance with the law. Our Where to play legally page explains the legal ways to build your game library.

🔍 How can I be sure the capacity is genuine?

Our cards come directly from the SanDisk network. You can check it yourself with H2testw (Windows) or f3 (Linux, macOS): our guide on counterfeit cards explains how.

🚚 What are the delivery times?

Delivery in 10 to 18 days, shipped within 3 to 5 days.

🛡️ What warranty applies?

2-year legal guarantee of conformity. Returns within 14 days. The SanDisk manufacturer's warranty applies on top, under its own terms. Our customer service answers by email at contact@fun-esports.com.

Why buy here rather than on a marketplace

It is a fair question. Here is the answer, straight.

We verify, they list

Every listing is checked before publication: real read and write speeds, capacity, speed classes, compatible devices. Many models never make it into the catalogue.
