PET protectors: your game boxes stop getting damaged on the shelf
A retro game box is thin cardboard that's thirty years old: the corners get knocked, the sides rub against each other, dust settles in the grooves. These clear PET cases slip around the box and take all of that in its place. Sold in packs of 10, in the size of your choice.
What it does
- Protects the cardboard: the case takes the rubbing, corner knocks and dust; two neighbouring boxes no longer wear against each other.
- Keeps everything readable: PET is clear and untinted. Cover art, spine and back text stay visible without taking the box out.
- One size per system: each reference is cut to the dimensions of a specific box format, so the box doesn't float around or have to be forced in.
What it doesn't do
- It doesn't filter UV. A box exposed to direct sunlight will keep fading: a protector is not a display cabinet.
- It doesn't fix anything. Cardboard that's already crushed, torn or warped stays that way once the case is fitted.
- It doesn't adapt from one size to another. A large-format NES protector won't fit a small-format NES box: you choose when ordering.
- It contains no game and no box. You're buying the protection only, in compliance with the law.
- The supplier doesn't specify whether the protectors arrive pre-formed or flat, to be folded yourself. So we don't claim either way.
Compatibility
Eleven sizes to choose from: GB / GBA / GBC / NGPC, NES large format, NES small format, SNES, N64, PS1 (three references), PS2, PS5 / PS4 / PS3, and Switch. These are box sizes, not bare cartridge sizes: a protector is no use on a loose cartridge. Promotional editions, collector's boxes and non-standard boxes are not covered. The supplier offers three PS1 references without specifying which case each one fits — if in doubt, write to us before ordering.
Skill level required

Cardboard is the fragile part
A cartridge takes thirty years without flinching; its box doesn't. The cardboard gets knocked at the corners, rubs against its neighbours when you slide a row along, warps with humidity and collects dust in the grooves. Yet that's where most of a complete game's value lies: between a clean box and a tired one, the difference is visible from a metre away. Protecting the packaging means protecting the game.
A case cut for one size
Each reference is cut to the dimensions of one box type: the box goes in without forcing and doesn't float once fitted. PET is clear and untinted, so the cover art, spine and back text stay readable without taking anything off the shelf. Fitting requires no tools or glue and comes off as quickly as it goes on. The pack of 10 lets you do a whole row at once rather than one box at random.
What a protector won't do
We might as well say it before you buy: PET doesn't filter UV, so a shelf in full sun will keep fading the cover art. A case won't straighten out cardboard that's already crushed or torn either: it preserves the condition the box is in on the day you fit it. And one size doesn't replace another — a large-format NES protector won't fit a small-format NES box — so check your selection before confirming your basket.
