Zed, the black-and-red duo of a dark setup
Zed is the assassin of the shadows: a mid-laner who lives on short windows and instant punishment. The set takes up the most recognisable colour code in the game, the deep black of the mask and the red of the blades, with nothing in between. That strong two-tone scheme is easy to match: a black keyboard, a dark deskmat, steady red lighting, and the whole thing stands on its own without any other coloured accessory. On a desk already loaded with blue or purple, however, this red pulls the eye and takes over. The audience is the deliberately all-black setup, where the only colour allowed is that of the champion being played.
Red on black: what that asks of the printing
On a dark base, everything comes down to how crisp the light areas are: red laid over black bleeds as soon as the ink merely sits on the surface. Here the pattern is dye-sublimated (DYE-SUB), the dye spread inside the plastic rather than placed on top: no layer to chip, and your fingernail cannot feel the legend. The support is PBT, harder and drier than the ABS fitted as standard on most keyboards, which does not take on the shine of heavily used keys. Compatibility: MX cross-stem (Cherry MX, Gateron, Kailh, Outemu), OEM profile, each key on its own row. Fitted by hand with the supplied puller, no glue.
What black and red will not do on their own
A theme this distinctive suggests a complete keyboard in Zed's colours: that is not what this is. You receive 12 keycaps for one area of the keyboard, the remaining rows keep their keys, and the mechanical keyboard must already exist. They do not fit a membrane keyboard, low-profile keys or a proprietary stem. The red does not light up either: PBT is opaque, only the edge of the keycap lets the switch light through, so red lighting complements the set but never shines through it. Finally, this is an illustration inspired by the League of Legends universe, not a licensed product.

Will this set fit my keyboard?
It needs an MX cross-stem: Cherry MX, Gateron, Kailh, Outemu. Take off one key and look at the switch stem — a cross means the set clips straight on. Keyboards with a membrane, with low-profile keys or with a proprietary stem are not covered.
What's in the box?
12 keycaps and a keycap puller. The other rows keep their original caps: on a black keyboard the Zed keys almost blend in, except for the red. Put them where you like — WASD, ability keys, function row — keyboard format makes no difference.
How do you clean them without damaging the pattern?
A slightly damp microfibre cloth, never a solvent. The pattern will not come off: dye-sublimation (DYE-SUB) spreads the dye inside the plastic rather than depositing it on the surface, so there is nothing to chip. PBT also avoids the shine that appears on heavily used ABS keys.
Do you need red lighting for this set to work?
It is not required, but a steady red extends the set's two-tone scheme better than a rainbow. One principle to keep in mind: PBT is opaque, the switch light passes around the keycap and does not go through the pattern. Lighting underlines the set, it does not light it from within.
Which other set goes with this one?
Any dark theme with a single accent holds up: a black-and-red set works with a black base and one further clear accent, never with two competing bright colours. Fitting two very colourful themes on the same keyboard scatters the eye and costs the black-and-red pairing its edge.
