PSone internal HDMI kit: a digital output instead of the AV cable
On a modern TV, a PSone connected by composite gives a blurry picture. This Hispeedido internal HDMI kit takes the digital signal from the motherboard and outputs it in 480p or 1080p. It comes in two versions, depending on your console's video chip: CXD8561CQ or CXD9500Q.
What it does
- Digital HDMI output: the signal is taken from the motherboard, without going through analogue conversion.
- 480p or 1080p: with three picture formats per resolution, six in total.
- On-screen menu: three video modes (soft, standard, vivid), Bob, Weave or adaptive deinterlacing, adjustable motion threshold and picture position.
What it doesn't do
- It does not make games more detailed: it carries and enlarges the original picture, without adding resolution.
- Each version only suits one video chip: a CXD8561CQ does not take the CXD9500Q kit, and vice versa.
- It is not suitable for the original full-size PlayStation.
- It does not repair a tired drive or a failing power supply.
- Installation requires good soldering skills: this is not a beginner's kit.
Compatibility
PSone fitted with a CXD8561CQ or CXD9500Q video chip: note the chip marking on the motherboard and choose the matching variant. Not compatible with the original full-size PlayStation.
Skill level required
Advanced level. Complete disassembly of the console down to the motherboard, soldering of the ribbon cable and connection wires, fixing the board and routing the HDMI port through the shell. Have a fine-tip soldering iron, flux, a magnifier and a precision cutting tool. The two-ribbon-cable variant supplies a spare ribbon cable.

The job: soldering in a digital output
You open the PSone down to the motherboard, solder the ribbon cable and connection wires, fix the HDMI board and route the port through the shell. Once closed again, the console displays a sharp picture on a modern TV, without a composite cable.
The part: two versions, two chips
Hispeedido makes this kit for the PSone's two video chips, CXD8561CQ and CXD9500Q. It outputs in 480p or 1080p, with an on-screen menu: video modes, deinterlacing, picture position. The two-ribbon-cable version adds a spare ribbon cable.
