Internal HDMI kit for Dreamcast: the console's digital signal, straight to HDMI
On a modern TV, the Dreamcast over composite loses all its sharpness, and an external VGA adapter adds one more link to the chain. This Hispeedido internal HDMI kit is soldered inside the console and converts its digital signal into a 1080p HDMI output, with an OSD menu for settings. It is intended for owners of a Dreamcast with a VA0 or VA1 motherboard who know how to solder.
What it does
- 1080p HDMI output: digital-to-digital conversion, without going through the console's analogue output.

What it doesn't do
- It cannot be installed without soldering: the board and the ribbon cable are soldered onto the motherboard.
- It does not work on Dreamcast consoles with a VA2 motherboard.

Compatibility
Dreamcast with a VA0 or VA1 motherboard, according to the manufacturer. VA2 boards are not covered: open the console and read the revision printed on the motherboard before ordering. The kit is not for any other console.
Skill level required
Advanced. You need to disassemble the Dreamcast down to the motherboard, solder the kit's ribbon cable and board with a fine-tip iron and flux, check with a multimeter that there is no short circuit, then fit the HDMI port. Depending on where you place this port, cutting the shell may be necessary. Check your installation before closing it up: once soldered, the kit is no longer in its original condition.

The job: connecting the Dreamcast over HDMI, for good
No more need for an external box hanging off the back of the console. You open the Dreamcast, check that the motherboard is a VA0 or a VA1, solder the kit's ribbon cable and board, fit the HDMI port and check with a multimeter before closing it up. The console then connects to the TV with a simple HDMI cable.
