GuliKit joystick for Joy-Con: replacing a drifting stick with a contactless sensor
Joy-Con drift comes from wear on the resistive track of the original joystick: the character moves on its own, the cursor slides. These GuliKit modules replace the joystick with a friction-free magnetic sensor: NS40T with tunnel magnetoresistance (TMR), or NS40 with Hall effect.
What it does
- Contactless sensor: the stick position is read by a magnetic field, with no track that wears through friction — the usual cause of drift disappears.
- Two technologies to choose from: NS40T with TMR sensor, presented by GuliKit as more stable and less power-hungry; NS40 with Hall effect sensor.
- Solder-free installation: the module connects via ribbon cable, in the same location as the original joystick.
- Packs of 1, 2 or 10: single for one Joy-Con, two for a pair, ten for a workshop.
What it doesn't do
- It is not suitable for Switch 2 Joy-Con, nor for the Switch Pro controller.
- It does not repair a Joy-Con whose problem lies elsewhere: button, connection rail, battery or board.
- The NS42 caps fit the NS40, not the NS40T.
- The single-unit variants only contain the module(s): have your own screwdrivers ready.
- Recalibrating the sticks in the console settings is still necessary after installation.
Compatibility
Left and right Joy-Con of the first-generation Switch and the Switch OLED: the same module works on both sides. Switch Lite: compatible, but accessing the joysticks requires opening the console itself. Not covered: Switch 2 Joy-Con, the Switch Pro controller and third-party controllers.
Skill level required
Intermediate, no soldering. Opening the Joy-Con (Y00 tri-point screwdriver for the outer screws, PH00 Phillips for the inner screws), moving the battery, disconnecting the joystick ribbon cable, fitting the module, reassembly. Finish with System Settings › Controllers and Sensors › Calibrate Control Sticks. Allow about twenty minutes per Joy-Con for a first installation.

The job: putting an end to drift
A drifting Joy-Con is not ready for the bin: it is its joystick that has worn out. You open the controller, move the battery aside, disconnect the ribbon cable of the original stick and fit the GuliKit module in its place. After reassembly and recalibration in the settings, the character only moves when your thumb decides.
The part: a GuliKit magnetic sensor
The original joystick reads its position through a wiper that rubs against a resistive track: it is this track that wears out. GuliKit replaces this principle with contactless magnetic measurement. The NS40T uses a TMR sensor, the NS40 a Hall effect sensor. In both cases, the usual wear part no longer exists.
Support: before opening the Joy-Con
Have a Y00 tri-point, a PH00 Phillips and a plastic spudger ready, then work on a clear surface: the screws are tiny. The battery is moved aside without being yanked out, and the ribbon cable is lifted by its latch. If a doubt arises during installation, our customer service replies within 1 business day.
