Game Gear dual-channel audio board: louder, cleaner sound
The sound of an original Game Gear is weak and full of hiss, especially once the volume board has lost its capacitors. This dual-channel audio board replaces it: stronger volume, lower noise floor, stereo output on the headphone jack.
What it does
- Stronger volume: up to twice the original output level.
- Less hiss: very low noise floor and low electromagnetic interference.
- Stereo or mono: a switch on the board selects the output mode.
- Quality audio capacitors: ELNA capacitors fitted at the factory.
What it does not do
- It does not replace the speaker: a damaged speaker will still crackle.
- It does not repair the power board or the main board.
- The colour you choose only applies to the volume wheel.
- No tools included.
Compatibility
Replaces the volume and headphone board of European, American and Japanese Game Gear. Fits the original shell as well as replacement shells designed for the original board.
Skill level
Intermediate: open with a Phillips screwdriver, remove the old board and solder the link wires to the main board. A fine-tip iron is recommended.

The job: getting the console's sound back
A silent or crackling Game Gear often has a tired volume board. Open the console, desolder the old board, solder the wires of the new one and close it up. The wheel turns smoothly again and the sound returns, louder than the original.

This dual-channel board raises the volume up to twice the original level with a very low noise floor. A switch selects stereo or mono output, and ELNA audio capacitors are fitted at the factory. Four wheel colours are available.
Support: a complete restoration
