Game Gear capacitor kit: the repair that brings back picture and sound
On a Game Gear, almost every classic fault comes from the original capacitors leaking with age: faint or blank screen, weak or missing sound, a console that switches itself off. This 25-capacitor kit replaces those on the main board, the power board and the sound board. It is the starting point of any restoration.
What it does
- A complete set: 25 capacitors for the console's three boards, in a single bag.
- A placement map: the product photos give the value for each board (for example 100 µF 16 V and 47 µF 10 V on the sound board).
- The cause, not the symptom: replacing capacitors before they leak protects the board traces.
What it does not do
- There are several main board revisions: compare each value with the one printed on your board before desoldering.
- It does not repair a trace already eaten by electrolyte: it must be cleaned and repaired first.
- It does not replace the screen, the speaker or the volume potentiometer.
- No tools included.
