Blank cartridge shell: a cracked cartridge looks presentable again
A thirty-year-old cartridge eventually cracks, yellows or loses a locking tab, and no longer stays in place in the console's slot. This replacement shell matches the format of Game Boy, Game Boy Color and Game Boy Advance cartridges: you move the original circuit board into a new case, with no logo or moulded markings.
What it does
- Three cartridge formats: Game Boy (GB), Game Boy Color (GBC) and Game Boy Advance (GBA), to choose from the variant list. The three formats are not interchangeable: order the one for your game.
- Transparent or solid finishes: clear and crystal versions, tinted or opaque. Handy for spotting a game at a glance in a storage box.
- Neutral case: no logo, no brand moulded into the plastic. It is a replacement housing, not a reproduction of an original cartridge.
What it doesn't do
- Contains no game, no circuit board and no save battery: the shell comes empty. Supplied without games, in compliance with the law.
- No label or sleeve supplied. The original sticker is hard to peel off and rarely sticks back neatly: plan to leave it as it is or do without it.
- Screws are not guaranteed to be included. Plan to reuse the screw from the original cartridge.
- Does not repair anything electronic: a dead save battery, a broken trace or oxidised contacts must be dealt with separately.
- It is not a console shell: it does not replace the casing of a Game Boy, only that of a game cartridge.
Compatibility
Game Boy, Game Boy Color and Game Boy Advance game cartridges, depending on the variant chosen. Not suitable for DS, 3DS and Switch cards, or for NES, Super NES, Nintendo 64, Mega Drive or Master System cartridges, which have a different format.
Skill level required
No soldering, no cutting. You need to open the original cartridge: depending on the game, the screw requires a 3.8 mm security bit or a tri-wing, and some cartridges simply unclip. The circuit board then lifts out by hand, without tools. Allow about ten minutes per cartridge; the operation is reversible.
In the box
- 1 blank cartridge shell, in two halves, in the chosen format and colour

The fix: a cartridge gets a clean housing again
A cartridge from the late 90s has seen some life: plastic cracked around the screw, a broken corner, a missing locking tab, a colour yellowed by the sun. The game still works, but it no longer stays in the console's slot and rattles around in the storage box. Replacing the shell means opening the cartridge, taking out the circuit board and placing it in a new case. Ten minutes, no soldering, and the operation is reversible.
The part: a neutral case, no logo
These shells are deliberately blank: no logo, no brand moulded into the plastic. We are upfront about the result: it is a replacement housing, not a reproduction of an original cartridge. Three formats are available, Game Boy, Game Boy Color and Game Boy Advance, in transparent, crystal or solid colours. For a collector, it is above all a way to sort a collection at a glance.
What else to plan for
The only real obstacle is the screw: depending on the cartridge, you need a 3.8 mm security bit or a tri-wing, and some unclip without tools. Check the screw head before ordering the matching screwdriver. Also bear in mind that the original label rarely survives being peeled off. A question about a format or which tool to get? No. No soldering and no cutting: you open the cartridge, lift out the circuit board by hand and place it in the new case.
🎮 Which cartridge formats are covered?
Game Boy, Game Boy Color and Game Boy Advance, depending on the variant chosen. The three formats are not interchangeable. Not suitable for DS, 3DS and Switch cards, or for NES, Super NES, Nintendo 64, Mega Drive or Master System cartridges.
🎯 Is a game included?
No. The shell comes empty, without a game, circuit board or save battery. Supplied without games, in compliance with the law: you reuse the board from your own cartridge.

1 blank cartridge shell, in two halves, in the chosen format and colour. Nothing else.

A screwdriver that fits your cartridge's screw: 3.8 mm security bit or tri-wing depending on the game. Some cartridges unclip without tools. A thin spudger helps to separate the two halves.
