Hall effect joysticks for PS5 controller: putting an end to drift
Joystick drift comes from wear on the potentiometers: a resistive track rubbed with every movement eventually sends a false position. This eXtremeRate kit replaces the two analogue modules of the PS5 controller with Hall effect modules, which measure the position using a magnetic field, without any rubbing contact.
What it does
- Contactless measurement: no resistive track to wear out, so no drift caused by mechanical wear of the sensor.
- Adjustable calibration: a supplied FPC board lets you adjust the centring and range of both joysticks after installation.
- Two stiffness levels: purple modules with 120 gf spring force, firmer, or blue ones with 80 gf, softer.
What it doesn't do
- It cannot be installed without a soldering iron: the original modules are soldered to the controller board and must be desoldered.
- Soldering and desoldering equipment is not supplied.
- Joystick caps are not included: you reuse the ones from your controller or compatible caps.
- It does not fix a faulty button, trigger or charging port.
- It does not fit any controller other than the PS5 one.
Compatibility
Standard PS5 controller, revisions BDM-010, BDM-020, BDM-030, BDM-040 and BDM-050 according to the supplier. Not compatible with the PS5 Edge controller, PS4 controllers or controllers for other consoles. Opening the controller ends the manufacturer's warranty if it is still running.
Skill level required
Advanced level. You need to disassemble the controller, cleanly desolder the two original analogue modules, solder the new ones, then calibrate. Have a fine-tip soldering iron, desoldering braid or a desoldering pump, flux and solder ready. Not recommended for a first soldering job: practise first on a scrap board.

The job: saving a drifting controller
The character walks on its own, the camera turns without you touching anything: the controller is drifting. Rather than throwing it away, you open the shell, desolder the two worn analogue modules and solder Hall effect modules in their place. Once calibrated, the controller regains a stable neutral point and joysticks that no longer wear in the same way.
The part: Hall effect instead of the potentiometer
A conventional joystick reads its position on a resistive track rubbed by a wiper: that track is what wears out and causes drift. A Hall effect sensor reads a magnetic field, without contact. eXtremeRate, a manufacturer specialising in controller parts, supplies two modules here and a board to set the centre and range.
Support: a soldering job to prepare
Desoldering an analogue module requires flux, a fine tip and patience so as not to rip off a pad. If you have never soldered, practise on a scrap board before tackling the controller. A question before or during installation: our customer service replies within 1 business day.

🔧 Do I need to solder to install these joysticks?
Yes. The original modules are soldered to the controller board: they must be desoldered, then the new ones soldered in. This is an advanced-level job.
🎮 Which controllers is it compatible with?

⚖️ What do 80 gf and 120 gf mean?
