Evercade VS-R: Evercade cartridges on your TV, for up to four players

The VS-R is Evercade's home console. It plays Evercade cartridges — over 600 licensed games on more than 60 cartridges, according to the manufacturer — and displays them on a TV in HDMI 1080p. Two cartridge slots, four USB ports for up to four local players, one controller included with a 3-metre cable, and Wi-Fi for updates.

What it does

• Dual cartridge slots: two Evercade cartridges inserted at the same time.
• 1080p HDMI output: to a TV or monitor.
• 4 USB ports: up to four local players with additional controllers.
• Controller included: 3-metre cable, so you can play from the sofa.
• Built-in Wi-Fi: to install system updates.
• Cartridge slot cover: with a design inspired by the consoles of the era.

What it doesn't do

• No built-in games: without a cartridge, the VS-R offers no games. The console-only version comes without a cartridge.
• The HDMI cable is not included, nor is the mains adapter: only the micro-USB power cable is in the box.
• Only one controller: to play with two, three or four players, additional controllers are sold separately.
• No screen or battery: it connects to a TV and to mains power.
• It only plays Evercade cartridges: no cartridges from other consoles, no downloaded files.
• Micro-USB power, not USB-C: you'll need a 5 V 2 A USB mains adapter.

The two bundles

• Console only — light grey colourway, dark grey and red accents, one controller. Supplied without a cartridge.
• With Activision Collection 1 — the console, one controller and the Activision Collection 1 cartridge: 15 Activision games from 1980 to 1984, from the Atari 2600 era — Beamrider, Crackpots, Demon Attack, Enduro, Fishing Derby, Freeway, Grand Prix, MegaMania, Pitfall!, Private Eye, River Raid, Sky Jinks, Space Shuttle: A Journey Into Space, StarMaster and Tennis.
