Description complète
Edifier MP230: a wooden cabinet, not a plastic cylinder
Most Bluetooth speakers are black tubes. This one is a MDF wooden cabinet 164 mm wide with a mesh grille, rocker switches and the look of a 1960s radio set. Inside, two 48 mm drivers and 10 W per channel. It plays Bluetooth, a microSD card, an AUX input and USB audio.
What it does
- 10 + 10 W RMS on two 48 mm full-range drivers, signal-to-noise ratio above 80 dB(A).
- Four inputs: Bluetooth 5.0, microSD card, AUX input and USB-C, which also acts as a sound card.
- MDF wooden cabinet: the material that gives a speaker its grain, where plastic sounds hollow.
- 9 hours claimed on a 2,500 mAh battery, recharging at 5 V / 2 A.
- 850 g for 164 mm: heavy enough not to vibrate on a desk.
What it doesn't do
- It cuts off at 13 kHz. The bandwidth stated by Edifier is 70 Hz to 13 kHz: beyond that, there is nothing. The cymbals and the air of well-produced recordings will be missing.
- The stereo is all but inaudible: the two drivers are too close together in a 16 cm cabinet. It is noted in testing, and it is simple physics.
- The bass is thinner on the AUX input than over Bluetooth.
- Edifier documents no Bluetooth codec: neither the product sheet nor the manual lists any. No guarantee of aptX or AAC.
- It goes down to 70 Hz: this is not a deep-bass speaker.
Footprint
164 × 84.3 × 108.8 mm for 850 g, rubber feet under the cabinet.
Skill level required
None. You charge it, pair it or slide in a microSD card, and listen.

Wood changes the sound
An MDF cabinet does not resonate like a plastic tube: it damps instead of vibrating, and the bass gains body. It is the same principle as on a bookshelf speaker, applied to a 16 cm format. The 850 g of the MP230 come from that, and it is good news.
Four ways to send it music
Bluetooth for the phone, a microSD card to let it play with no source, an AUX input for a turntable or a console, USB-C for the computer where it becomes a sound card. Few speakers at this price accept all four, and here the microSD is the one that surprises most — it plays on its own, with nothing else.
Where it stops, and why
Edifier states 70 Hz – 13 kHz. Above 13 kHz there is nothing: the cymbals and the air of good recordings will be missing. And the stereo is all but inaudible, the two drivers being too close together in a 16 cm cabinet. That is physics, and no setting will change it.

Frequently asked questions
🔊 How much power does it deliver?
10 W per channel, i.e. 10 + 10 W RMS, on two 48 mm full-range drivers. Signal-to-noise ratio above 80 dB(A).
🌳 Is the cabinet really made of wood?
Yes, of MDF, with a mesh grille and rubber feet. That is what explains the 850 g and the behaviour of the bass.
🎵 Which sources does it accept?
Bluetooth 5.0, microSD card, 3.5 mm AUX input and USB-C — the latter also acting as a sound card for a computer.
📉 What is its bandwidth?
70 Hz – 13 kHz according to Edifier. In practice: no deep bass, and nothing above 13 kHz. That is the main limitation of the product.
🎧 Which Bluetooth codecs does it support?
Edifier documents them nowhere, neither on the product sheet nor in the manual. We prefer to announce nothing rather than announce something false.
🔋 What is its battery life?
9 h claimed on a 2,500 mAh battery. As always, that varies with volume and temperature.
🚚 What are the delivery times?
Delivery in 10 to 18 days, ships within 3 to 5 days.
🛡️ What guarantee applies?
2-year legal guarantee of conformity. 14-day returns.
Why buy here rather than on a marketplace
It's a fair question. Here's the straight answer.
Every listing states clearly what the item can do and where it stops, with the manufacturer's specifications. No licensed artwork is added to the photos.
A question about the app, a setting, a return: you write, a human replies within 1 business day.
We handle the 2-year legal warranty of conformity ourselves — not a form on the other side of the world. And 14 days to change your mind, no questions asked.
We don't claim to be the cheapest. We claim you'll know exactly what you're buying before you pay.
