Dreamcast VGA cable: the sharpest picture the console can output
The Dreamcast can output a 480p progressive picture through its video port, provided you use a VGA cable. This RetroScaler cable plugs into the back of the console and provides a male VGA plug for the picture and two RCA plugs for the sound. It comes with useful adapters for audio and for extending the VGA.
What it does
- VGA output to a PC monitor with VGA input, a scaler or a VGA to HDMI converter.
- RCA audio left and right, with a 3.5 mm jack to two RCA cable for a speaker or headphones.
- Female-female VGA adapter to connect a VGA extension.
- Female RCA to female 3.5 mm jack adapter for other audio setups.
What it doesn't do
- It does not plug directly into an HDMI TV: you need a screen with VGA input, or a VGA to HDMI converter.
- Some Dreamcast games do not support VGA mode and refuse to display with this cable.
- It is a simple cable, with no box or switch: it cannot switch to a TV output.

La Dreamcast est l'une des rares consoles de son époque à savoir parler VGA. Ce câble se branche à l'arrière de la console, la fiche VGA va sur un moniteur ou un convertisseur, les deux RCA vont sur une enceinte. Aucun réglage, aucun outil.
