Akko 135-key keycaps: a refreshed keyboard without taking anything apart
A mechanical keyboard in daily use eventually shows shiny keys and worn-off legends. This set of 135 PBT keycaps replaces them in about ten minutes, with a Cherry profile and side-printed legends that leave the top of the keys completely smooth.
What it does
- Double-shot PBT: material stated by Akko, rougher than ABS and less prone to shine with use.
- Cherry profile: height sculpted row by row, the reference profile for desktop mechanical keyboards.
- Side printing: the legend is moved to the front face of the key, so the top stays blank.
- 135 keycaps: enough to dress most 61, 68, 84, 87, 98 and 104-key keyboards in ANSI layout.
What it doesn't do
- Not suitable for an AZERTY keyboard: the legends are printed in ANSI (US) layout. Accented characters and the L-shaped Enter key have no equivalent in the set.
- Doesn't light up the legends: PBT is opaque and the legend is on the side, so the backlight doesn't shine through it.
- Includes no keyboard, switches or stabilisers: these are keycaps only.
- Doesn't fit a membrane keyboard, a laptop keyboard, a low-profile model, or non-MX stems (Topre, Alps).
- Doesn't cover unusual layouts (Alice, ergonomic, space bars or modifiers of unusual width).
Compatibility
Any mechanical keyboard whose switches have an MX-standard cross stem: Cherry MX, Gateron, Kailh, TTC, Akko, and optical switches with a cross stem. ANSI (US) layout only: French AZERTY keyboards and ISO keyboards are not covered. The number of keys actually used depends on your keyboard — on a standard 104-key model, the set is complete; on a special layout, a few positions may remain uncovered.
Skill level required
No soldering, no disassembly of the keyboard. You remove the old keycaps one by one and press the new ones onto the stem. A keycap puller makes the job easier and avoids bending a stem: it often comes with the keyboard, but it is not guaranteed in this package. Allow 10 to 20 minutes for a full keyboard.

The keyboard, the forgotten piece of the retro setup
We take care of the screen, the controller, the lamp and the desk mat, then keep the original keyboard with its yellowed keys. Yet it's the piece you look at and touch the longest during the day. A keycap set changes nothing about the keyboard's electronics: it changes its look and the feel under your fingers. The colour gradient, on a smooth key surface with no legend visible from above, makes for a clean desk rather than a flashy one.
What PBT and the Cherry profile change
The stock keycaps on entry-level keyboards are made of ABS: the surface turns shiny after a few months and the legends eventually wear off. The PBT stated by Akko is harder and keeps its texture longer. The Cherry profile, for its part, sculpts a different height for each row, which rests your fingers lower than an OEM profile. Finally, printing on the front face leaves the top of the keys completely clear.
The limitation to know: it's an ANSI set
This set is printed in ANSI layout, the American layout. On a French AZERTY keyboard, the letters don't land in the right place, accented characters don't exist in the set and the L-shaped Enter key has no equivalent. It's made for an ANSI keyboard, or for anyone who types without looking at the keys. Second limitation: since the legends are on the side and the PBT is opaque, the backlight doesn't shine through them.

Frequently Asked Questions
⌨️ Does this set fit a French AZERTY keyboard?
No. The legends are printed in ANSI (US) layout: the letters don't match, accented characters are missing and the L-shaped Enter key has no equivalent. The set is designed for an ANSI keyboard.
🔌 Which switches is it compatible with?
All MX-standard cross-stem switches: Cherry MX, Gateron, Kailh, TTC, Akko, as well as optical switches with a cross stem. Topre and Alps stems, membrane keyboards and low-profile models are not compatible.
💡 Do the legends light up with the backlight?
No. The PBT is opaque and the legend is moved to the front face of the key: light passes around the keycap but doesn't shine through the legend.
🔢 135 keys: will that cover my keyboard?
The set covers most common ANSI formats, from 61 keys up to a full 104 keys, including 68, 84, 87 and 98. Unusual layouts (Alice, ergonomic, modifiers of unusual width) may leave a few positions uncovered.
📦 What's in the box?

🧰 Do I need a tool for installation?
