8BitDo Gears of War: E-Day charging dock: set the controller down and it charges
This 8BitDo charging dock recharges an Xbox Series X|S or Xbox One controller by simply setting it down, wirelessly and with no pins to line up. It comes with a 1000 mAh lithium battery pack that fits into the original battery compartment, cover included. Its design echoes the Gears of War: E-Day limited edition of the Xbox controller. Officially licensed Xbox product.
What it does
- Wireless charging by simply setting it down: no contact pins to line up.
- 1000 mAh lithium battery pack included: it replaces the batteries and sits under the original cover.
- Full charge in about 3 hours 30: according to the manufacturer.
- Passive cooling: air channels, no fan.
- Gears of War: E-Day design: matched to the Xbox limited edition controller of the same name.
What it doesn't do
- The controller is not included.
- The mains adapter is not supplied: only the USB cable is in the box.
- Only Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One controllers are listed: no Xbox 360 controller, and a controller with a built-in battery such as the Elite Series 2 cannot take the battery pack.
- One slot and one battery pack: it charges one controller at a time.
- The artwork is specific to the Gears of War: E-Day edition: no other color is offered here.
Compatibility
Xbox Series X|S wireless controller and Xbox One wireless controller, fitted with the battery pack supplied. 5 V power over USB cable, mains adapter not supplied.
Getting started
No soldering, no tools. Take the batteries out of the controller, fit the battery pack supplied and put the original cover back on. Plug the dock into a mains adapter over USB, then set the controller down: charging starts.
In the box

Set it down, it charges
The AA batteries in an Xbox controller always end up dying at the worst moment. This dock does away with the chore: the battery pack supplied sits under the original cover, and the controller recharges as soon as you set it down, with no cable and no pins to line up. About 3 hours 30 minutes for a full charge.
A lithium battery instead of disposable batteries
The 1000 mAh pack supplied is a semi-solid lithium battery that takes the place of the two AA batteries in the compartment. The controller's original cover is kept: from the outside, nothing changes. It is this pack that makes wireless charging on the dock possible.
A setup piece, licensed by Xbox
The artwork echoes the Gears of War: E-Day limited edition of the Xbox controller, with its cracked-earth textures. An officially licensed Xbox product, the dock earns its place beside the screen with the controller resting on it. One controller at a time: one dock per controller.
