5-in-1 RGB SCART switch: several RGB consoles, a single connection

When you play on several consoles in RGB, SCART cables pile up behind the screen or the converter. This SCART switch centralises the connections and offers, according to the supplier, SCART, RGBS over RCA plugs and Saturn-style mini-DIN connectors.

What it does

• Centralises RGB consoles: you switch from one console to another without unplugging any cable.
• Varied connectors: SCART (Euro SCART), RGBS over RCA and Saturn-style mini-DIN.
• Several sync types stated: sync on composite video, sync on luminance (luma) and composite sync (CSYNC).

What it doesn't do

• It does not convert to HDMI: you need a screen with an RGB SCART input or a converter (OSSC, RetroTINK, upscaler) after it.
• It does not turn a composite or S-Video signal into RGB: each console must already output RGB.
• It does not improve the image: it carries it.
• The console cables are not supplied.

Compatibility

Consoles that output an RGB signal via a SCART cable: Mega Drive, Saturn and Dreamcast are cited by the supplier, like any other console fitted with an RGB SCART cable. A console connected via composite only, or a SCART cable that does not carry RGB, will not give an RGB image.

Skill level required

None. You plug the consoles' SCART cables into the switch, then the output into the screen or the converter. No soldering, no opening of the console. Simply check that each console cable is indeed an RGB cable.
